Karen Oberlander: Won't make this as long as before. Studied French all my life but really 'got it' once I was immersed. Same with Spanish. Once I couldn't use my English, I figured out how to communicate in 3 months. That's what I think students can do. Not quite like living in a place where that's all you hear 24/7, but by being diligent and really trying to work with the language, we can all acquire some working knowledge and comfort communicating in the language we are playing in.
